Inaugural 529 Epic Trip
Over the past 4 years, we’ve continued to grow 529. In 2009, this started with the creation of the 529 Legion. While the 529 Legion continues to focus on racing, we’re doubling down on our community efforts. Afterall, the best times riding are with great friends in killer locations. So the next step is the creation of 529 Legion Epic Adventures.
529 Legion Epic Adventures get the team members together along with friends and families for a long weekend of riding great trails in killer locations. Our inaugural 529 Legion Epic Adventure took place this past weekend in Bend, Oregon with 9 team members and approx. 20 other good friends, new and old.
Bend Highlights:
- Sergei’s driving. Sergei and Clinton headed down to Bend on Friday evening. Sergei took over at the half way mark (just before Government Camp) and was doing good right up till about 100 miles out. At this point Sergei started getting a bit erratic. This resulted in the local Oregon patrol pulling him over and asking that he switch up with Clinton. Come to find out, if you vary your speed by 20 mph and cross the white line a few times, the cops get interested. Oh yeah, and Sergei is no longer allowed to drive ‘big’ vehicles.
- The banana saga continues. Upon arrival in Bend, Clinton slid a banana under Barr’s driver side door handle. At approx. 6 a.m. the next morning, Barr got a nice slimy surprise as he went to go on a coffee run. Barr was none too happy…
- Lost with a GPS. How do you get lost with a GPS. Not sure exactly, but Raman and Clinton managed to do so. Thankfully it was a minor excursion of a mile or two.
After 3 days of hanging with friends and 60+ miles riding some of the best singletrack on the planet, everyone agreed that we’ll make Bend, OR an annual Memorial Day tradition.
Interested in joining us for a 529 Legion Epic Adventure? We’vegot another planned for this Fall. Drop us a line…

While I prefer not to give John Barr credit, he deserves recognition for setting up a killer mtb vacation that is now an annual Memorial Day tradition. Thanks JB!
