Some stolen bikes are listed within hours. Others take months. Detective scans six marketplaces, twice a day, for six months.

What 529 Detective does

Your bike. Every major online marketplace. Every day.

You register your stolen bike. Detective does the rest.

1

Register your stolen bike

Add your bike's details, photos, and serial number. This creates the profile Detective uses to scan. Takes about 5 minutes.

2

Detective scans automatically

Detective scans Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, eBay, OfferUp, Kijiji, and Pinkbike twice daily so you don't have to. New matches land in a daily digest email.

3

Review possible matches

Detective sends you listings that could be your bike. You review them in one place, much easier than sifting through thousands of listings across 6 sites yourself.

4

Recover with support

Use the match evidence to work with law enforcement. Your 529 registration has the details (serial number, photos, description) that police need to help.

Why Detective works

Thieves have a playbook. So do we.

Hours or months

Some stolen bikes are listed within hours. Others take months to surface. Detective scans six marketplaces, twice a day, for six months.

They change details

New photos, different city, parts swapped. Detective's matching goes beyond exact text. It compares visual and structural characteristics.

You can't check 6 sites every day

Manually checking Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, eBay, OfferUp, Kijiji, and Pinkbike every day across multiple cities is unsustainable. Detective does it for you, automatically.

Law enforcement needs evidence

A matched listing + your 529 registration gives police the details they need: serial number, photos, and a record of your bike. Detective helps you build that case.

Questions

Straight answers

How does Detective work?

Detective is an automated engine that scans 6 online marketplaces twice daily for new listings and matches them against your stolen bike's details — photos, description, serial number. When it finds a potential match, you get a daily digest email.

How many bikes can I search?

There is no limit on the number of bikes you can search using Detective.

What do I do when Detective finds a match?

You'll see the matched listing in your 529 dashboard. Use it as evidence when contacting law enforcement. Your 529 registration combined with the listing match gives police what they need to act.

Does it auto-renew?

No. Detective is a one-time purchase and does not auto-renew. $25 gets you 6 months of twice-daily scanning across 6 online marketplaces. If you haven't found your bike after 6 months, you can purchase a new subscription to continue searching.

Do I need to have registered my bike before it was stolen?

No. You can register your stolen bike after the theft. You'll need your bike's details — photos, serial number, and description. The more detail you provide, the better Detective can match.

What's the difference between Detective and Protect?

Detective is the marketplace scanning tool — it helps you find your bike online. Protect includes Detective plus theft deterrence (the 529 Shield decal), law enforcement network alerts, and a $3,000 limited warranty if your bike isn't recovered. Protect is a subscription available in the US (except Washington State).
