Love your bike? Keep it safe.

529 Garage Aotearoa is now live! Rotorua Lakes Council & Rotorua Police have teamed up and joined Auckland, Christchurch & Wellington and we are on a crusade to register as many bikes as possible. 529 Garage is the world's largest community-powered bike recovery service. Register your bike today to protect it and increase the chance of finding it if the worst happens. It's free to use and your personal data is safe. You don't have to have a 529 shield to register your bike, but keep an eye out on our Facebook page (at the bottom of the page) for activation events coming soon where you can get a free shield! We are looking for local bike shops to retail the 529 shields, so let us know if you are a bike shop who is keen.

How to Report a Bike Theft

If your bike has been stolen, it's important to report it to the Police - this helps them better understand the scope of the problem. It will also be necessary for an insurance claim or to collect it from any Police station which recovers the bike. To report your bike, follow the steps below:

Step 1:

Start an alert on your bike on the 529 Garage website or app.

If your bike isn't registered, register it first with all the information that you have about your bike, and then start the alert.
