529 Shield
Make your bike a bad idea to steal.
A Shield is optional. Registering is free either way.
The 529 Shield is a tamper-resistant decal with its own seven character ID, in a registry of 3M+ searchable bikes. After a theft, the bikes that come home are the ones somebody could identify.
Why Shields Work
A thief reads it first.
Read from across the street, before anyone touches the bike. A Shield says this one is registered, traceable, and a hassle to move.
Anyone can look it up.
A scannable Shield connected to your registration, 7 characters unique to your bike. An officer, a shop or a buyer sees the record straight away, including whether it is reported missing. Your serial and photos sit on that same record, so the bike can be identified more than one way.
Every Shield makes the next one work.
The more frames carrying one, the quicker a thief, a shop or an officer recognises what it means. Registration stays free, and Shields are part of what pays for that, so yours also helps the rider who never buys one.
Tamper-resistant means it is very hard to peel off, and harder still to peel off without leaving obvious signs somebody tried. Weather-resistant means winter, road salt and a summer of sun will not lift it.

Where to put it
Anywhere works, but we like the seat tube just below the top tube. It sits at eye level at a rack, which is where the deterrent does its job.
The back of the seat tube is a good second choice if you would rather keep the frame graphics clean.
Putting it on straight
Then register the Shield to your bike in the app or in your Garage, so the code points at your record.
