A registered bike with a shield attached is much more likely to be identified and recovered. Illicit marketers know this and are less likely to buy a bike with a shield attached. Thieves are less likely to steal a bike with a shield. Puget Sound recovers between 75 and 100 bikes per year. Most are donated to charity because we cannot identify the owner. Registering your bike deters theft and illicit markets and makes recovery of a stolen bike more likely.

How to Report a Bike Theft at Puget Sound:
If your bike has been stolen, it's important to report it to Security Services. This helps our community understand the scope of the problem, as well as makes it easier to interrupt criminal activity on campus.
Start an alert on your bike on the 529 Garage website or app.
If your bike isn't registered, register it first with all the information that you have about your bike, and then start the alert.
