What is a 529 Shield?

The shield ID will be 7 characters with no numbers.

Upon proof of residency in Sidney or North Saanich, the Sidney / North Saanich RCMP will provide every registrant with a "Shield Sticker" free of charge upon your bicycle being registered with project529.com/sidneynorthsaanich. Once a "Shield Sticker has been assigned to your bicycle you will be required to re-enter your bicycle registration to add your "Shield Sticker" registration number to complete your bicycle registration.

How to Report a Bike Theft

If your bike is missing, it's important to report it to law enforcement - this helps the police better understand the scope of the problem. It will also be necessary for an insurance claim or to collect it from any law enforcement agency that recovers the bike. To report your bike, follow the steps below:

Step 1:

Start an alert on your bike on the 529 Garage website or app.

If your bike isn't registered, register it first with all the information that you have about your bike, and then start the alert.
