Project 529 Shields are available for free at VPD pop up registration events. Some Community Policing Centres will also provide Shields free of charge. Tips

Securing a Project 529 Shield/Decal will make it easier for the police and the 529 community search a possible stolen bike on the Project 529 database.

Use a cable lock for securing accessories and a highly rated U-Lock to secure your frame.

Secure your back wheel and frame with a highly rated U-lock to an approved bike rack.

How to Report a Bike Theft

If your bike has been stolen, it's important to report the theft to police - this helps the police better understand the scope of the problem and assign resources to those areas. If you haven't reported it stolen, we won't know to look for it and it will not be on the police database should police come across it.

If your stolen bike is listed for sale on an online marketplace, buyers won't be able to search for your serial number online and won't be aware the bike is stolen. It will also be necessary for an insurance claim or to collect your bike from any police agency that recovers it. If you have video of the theft, please advise this when making your report.

To report your bike stolen, you can follow the steps below:

Step 1:

Start an alert on your bike on the 529 Garage website or app.

If your bike isn't registered, register it first with all the information that you have about your bike, and then start the alert.

Go to your garage
